Tec 50 is the final subset of the Tec Deep Diver course & opens the door to deeper diving expeditions. You learn risk management & safety techniques to make accelerated dives up to 50 metres/165 feet using up to two gases.
Conducted over a period of at least three days, Tec 50 primarily focuses on mission planning and team diving considerations. It comprises three knowledge development sections, classroom sessions, and a minimum of four open water dives.
Building on your training, you focus further on risk management; learn to think like a technical diver and handle emergencies. You also learn the cognitive and motor skills necessary to be a safe technical diver.
Upon certification, PADI Tec 50 divers are qualified to make unlimited accelerated decompression dives using standardized technical diving equipment.
At SEI, technical diving courses are taught using a mix of classroom presentations, theory discussions, & in-water training, leading up to open water dives. An ideal course schedule goes as follows –
Day 1 (8.30am–5pm): Classroom presentation & decompression theory discussion; equipment & gas considerations; risk management & pool training
Days 2 & 3 (7am-3pm): Open water dives including qualifying dive, debrief & further remedial training if required.
Once a course is booked, we assign e-learning materials at the earliest to help you complete theory sections at your pace & convenience, prior to arrival at the dive centre. This is highly recommended as it also allows us to allocate more time for in-water training.
Your understanding of decompression theory & diving safety is paramount for this course.
Technical courses are performance-based & not time-based. This means, the duration of the course depends on the time it takes you for to master skills & additional training days may be required, if necessary.
