Nothing beats the thrill of exploring the underwater world, but like any adventure activity, diving also comes with its set of challenges and potential risks. The Rescue Diver Course hones your ability to recognize, prevent and respond to diving-related emergencies, involving yourself or others.

This course is often described as one of the most challenging yet rewarding courses in recreational diving. So, whether you are a seasoned diver or a recently certified one, earning the Rescue Diver certification is sure to be a milestone on your journey.

As a certified Rescue Diver you will –

  • Be calmer and more confident underwater
  • Be more attuned to your surroundings, making you a cautious and prudent diver
  • Contribute to a safer diving community
  • Be responsible for the well-being of yourself and your buddies

Whether you aspire to be a dive professional or just wish to be a more capable, safety-conscious diver, the Rescue Diver Course is a valuable addition to your diving education.

At Scuba Evolution India, we adopt a thorough, detailed approach to Rescue Diver training. We focus on mastering each skill before proceeding to the next one.

Taught as a mix of theory and hands-on training, the course comprises the following –

  • Knowledge development with a greater focus on dive theory & safety procedures, along with accident management techniques, above & underwater. Once a course is booked, we assign e-learning materials at the earliest to help you complete theory sections at your pace & convenience, prior to arrival at the dive centre. This is highly recommended as it also allows us to allocate more time for in-water training.
  • Confined water training in the pool, covering self-rescue techniques & 10 critical rescue exercises. While many of these exercises can be directly conducted at sea, we insist on pool training to ensure better learning
  • Open water dives where you demonstrate your skills in the ocean & respond to simulated rescue scenarios.

The first 2 days are reserved for theory classes (if required); and pool training sessions, while open water dives in the ocean are conducted on the remaining days. Typically, at SEI, we conduct Rescue Diver Courses according to the following schedule –

Day 1 & 2 (8.30am-5pm): Classroom and pool training sessions covering self-rescue techniques and several rescue exercises.

Day 3 & 4 (7am-3pm): You head to Grande Island to demonstrate your skills in the ocean. You will also participate in rescue scenarios, respond to mock emergencies and apply your skills in real time.

You also have to submit an emergency assistance plan for a dive site as part of your course work. Once all of it is done, you are ready to get certified!
