If you have been a recreational diver for a while and want to explore of the possibility of becoming a technical diver, Discover Tec Diving is the answer for you. This is a short confined water experience that introduces recreational divers to the basics & discipline of technical diving. A great preparatory program, it can be done in either on side mount tanks or using a twinset.
You will work on buoyancy control, trim, finning techniques, propulsion, diving in teams, etc. Basic concepts of decompression theory are also part of the program.
You also get acquainted with technical diving equipment, as you get in the water, make gear adjustments, explore & get a feel for the gear. Once you are comfortable, your Instructor may introduce a few basic skills such as regulator switch & gas shutdown procedures
This program can also be combined with the Tec 40 course on successful completion of the required skills.
Please be advised that Discover Tec is an experience program and does not qualify you as a trained technical diver.
At SEI, technical diving programs are taught using a mix of classroom presentations, theory discussions, & in-water training.
The day begins with a discussion on decompression theory, followed by one on equipment considerations for technical diving. This is followed by in-water training wherein you do a pool dive in technical gear, & also learn about proper finning techniques.
