The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most popular scuba diving certification, and for good reason. Valid for life, the internationally-recognised certification is your first step towards a host of underwater adventures!
During the comprehensive, 4-day course, you learn about dive theory; equipment use; safety procedures; underwater navigation and communication; and much more! It is taught using a combination of theory, confined water sessions in the pool, and dives in the ocean and covers all you need to know to dive safely, independent of professional supervision, but with a certified buddy to a maximum depth of 18 metres/60 feet.
Moreover, Goa offers great training conditions for beginners with the ocean being generally calm and the average depth at most sites varying between 8-18 meters.
So, whether you want to travel and dive in new places; or build a career in marine studies; or become a dive professional, the Open Water Diver Course is the perfect gateway to a world of possibilities!
The course comprises 3 main components –
The first 2 days are reserved for swim and float tests; theory classes (if required); and pool training sessions, while open water dives in the ocean are conducted on the remaining days. Typically, at SEI, we conduct Open Water Diver Courses according to the following schedule-
Day 1 & 2 (8.30am-5pm): Swim and float tests; Classroom and pool training sessions
Day 3 & 4 (7am-3pm): Head to Grande Island for 2 open water dives each day, under the direct supervision of your instructor. Discover the beautiful world that lies beneath the waves, perform a few of the skills you’ve learnt in the pool and you’re ready to get certified!
??????Please Note: The batches for Open Water Diver course start every Wednesday, and Tuesday is an off for our dive centre.
However, we are quite flexible about schedules. So in case you don’t have four days to spare at a stretch, or are short on time, just get in touch to discuss alternate options. Or, you can also check out the PADI Scuba Diver Course!
