NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

That time of the year is back again where we all vow to improve ourselves and get a fresh start with the onset of a new year. It’s time for New Year’s resolutions!

You’ve heard of the repeat offenders breaking the resolutions and that yourself (let us all be honest here!): lose weight, quit smoking, eat healthier, spend more time with family and friends, live life to the fullest…the list goes on.

However, if you’re a scuba diver, or have been thinking about this for some time, go ahead and check all those boxes. Scuba diving is a truly unique and unforgettable experience. It not only helps you be more active and spend time with others but it also helps you enjoy everything this planet has to offer.  It combines tranquility, adrenaline, and relaxation.

So if you’ve got diving on your mind or are a diver already, here are some resolutions that you should be making (and following of course!):

Get Certified

Have you considered becoming a certified diver? If yes, then make 2019 the year that you take the PADI Open Water Diver (OWD) course. It opens up a whole new world of experiences that you can only imagine.  And OWD certification can change how you look at life and the world around you. Trust us when we say that many divers look at their OWD certification  as a life milestone.

Refresh Your Training

Once you are a certified diver, your certification never expires. However, if you have not dived in over a year, consider doing a re-activate (refreshing all your skills in confined water with a qualified Open Water Scuba Instructor) – It only takes a day. Even the most experienced divers need to regularly practice their skills. On your next dive trip, spend some time refreshing your basic skills.

Service Your Equipment and Replace Gear That Wears Out

Don’t risk being on a boat gearing up and then realizing that you can’t dive because you have something in your gear leaking gas. If your regulators haven’t been serviced- that’s definitely not good! Don’t put off something that could put your life at risk!

Dive gear lasts as long as you service it. Also, if you’ve not been diving because of old gear, it’s time to invest in your comfort. You’ll be much happier with your new gear.

Learn Something New and Challenge Yourself

Remember the first time you saw someone hover mid-water like a genie? Take a Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty course and that could be you! Diving is all about adventure and new experiences. Always push yourself to learn something new- a new underwater trick, a new type of diving perhaps!

Contact a PADI 5Star Dive Resort nearby and they’ll guide you in new diving adventures. Some popular options include , NITROX, Deep speaciality, Search and Recovery, side mount, PADI Tec Rec courses etc.

Make a Dive Travel Bucket List

Travel and scuba diving go together like bread and butter. If you’ve been waiting to dive at new destinations, now is the time. Make a dive travel list and make sure you take less sick and casual leaves and utilize your annual leaves for your dive travel.

Looking for inspiration? Contact a PADI 5Star Dive Resort for recommendations and find out what trips they may be running.

Break-up with Plastic

There’s nothing worse than a clingy ex (in this case, plastic). So, sever all ties and leave your relationship with disposable plastic. Make a pledge to yourself to give up single-use plastic like straws, bags, bottles etc. After all, plastic is a grave enemy and only we can defeat it.

Share the joy of diving

The ocean needs divers to speak up on its behalf. The underwater world is amazing. Breathing underwater is a trip and being weightless, a wild experience. Share your scuba diving experience with others. Encourage a family member or a friend to discover scuba diving.

After all the joy of diving with a loved one is an unforgettable one. Get your dear one to Scuba Evolution India for a safe and wonderful dive experience.

This list may not be all the possible dive resolutions, but hopefully, it gave you some ideas to make 2019 a better diving year. Whatever you resolve to do in the New Year, we wish you the best of luck in achieving you dive goals.
